Buying authentic Persian rugs for your house has never been easier. In the old days, you would have to hunt out a specialist rug dealer, then navigate your way tens of miles to their showroom, before choosing a rug from a limited selection, then cramming that rug into your car and driving home again.
Even if you have the thrilling experience of being able to buy an authentic Persian rug at a foreign market, you will often have to get more information order to get the rug safely back to your home country.
Buying rugs online is quick, safe and easy as long as you make sure you follow the rules below.
When you find a rug you like, always pay careful attention to the measurements of the rug as advertised online. If the measurements are unclear to you, contact the seller for clarification. Make sure you know whether the measurements are written in inches or centimetres.
You do not want to end up with a rug that is far too big, or far too small for your room. Persian rugs should not be resized, even by a professional.
Whilst it may be hard to accurately visualise the size of a rug in your room if you cannot physically see it in front of you, you can use a tape measure and markers to plot out the exact size and area where your new rug would sit, and then you will be able to consider if it is the right size and shape for your room.
