Tips to a Healthier Teeth

Avoid sticky foods that adhere to the teeth. Clean teeth after you snack. Eat carbohydrate containing foods with meals instead of between meals. Cheese may actually help your teeth to resist decay.  You can also get the information about dental veneers online.

Be careful when you eat hard foods; avoid popcorn kernels and ice. Try not to clench or grind teeth. Don't smoke, chew tobacco, or use snuff. All are factors for gum disease.

You may want to use an antimicrobial mouth rinse to reduce plaque. Look for sanguinaria, cetylpryridinium chloride, or domiphen bromide in the list of active ingredients.

Mouth rinses work by swishing (which removes debris), and ingredients in the rinse kill germs. When you use a rinse, take in only a couple of tablespoons, and rinse for about 30 seconds two times a day. Swish a lot, and spit it out. If your children use a mouth rinse, supervise them.

Children's Teeth Care:

Don't let infants sleep with bottles in their mouths. Sugary liquid (milk has sugar) may pool around teeth, causing plaque and cavities. Instead, give babies a bottle of water.

Clean babies' gums with a clean washcloth or piece of gauze. Brush your child's teeth with a child-sized toothbrush as soon as the first one erupts. When all the primary teeth have erupted, start flossing.

On the first birthday, babies should have a trip to the dentist. By age four or five, children should learn how to brush their own teeth, with supervision. Make sure children's teeth are brushed after every meal and before going to bed.
